Quintessential New York City girl, Marisa King, had the entrepreneurial spirit and interest from day one. The daughter of an Orthopedic Surgeon and a Registered Nurse, Marisa was raised in the heart of Greenwich Village NYC and always knew that success was the ONLY option. Watching her two brothers in admiration, both extremely accomplished, Marisa knew she needed to get started early if she wanted to keep up-thus at 16 years of age, she self-incorporated her first business, and she’s been working ever since. Marisa is an award-winning entrepreneur, a captivating speaker and revered business and lifestyle coach.
Marisa gained her knowledge and experience hands on, having worked within the entertainment industry during college, where she earned her degree in Marketing, simultaneously holding marketing roles at Interscope, Universal and Bad Boy to name a few, followed by positions at several prestigious companies. In addition, over the years, as a consultant, Marisa assisted in the creation and implementation of both urban and general marketing campaigns for H.I.P., Coca-Cola and Citigate Financial Intelligence, enabling the companies to better reach their target market.
Marisa established her name as the visionary behind the Buzz Brand Marketing Group, a marketing and communications firm that specializes in building brand equity. In this role, Marisa leverages her relationships to provide effective solutions for businesses and brands to increase productivity and their public presence. Clients include everyone from corporate executives to athletes to politicians, authors, entertainers and consumer brands. In 2021, Marisa added Restaurateur to her titles as a Founding Partner of Scrum-did-dly-ump-tious, a breakfast and brunch eatery located in Lawrenceville, GA.
Over the years, Marisa has created and implemented local and national marketing and public relations campaigns that have received placements in the NY Times on CNN, MSNBC, Daily News and more; on the marketing and pr side, managed communications and fundraising for a congressional campaign; assisted in creating brand imaging, created and implemented marketing and publicity plans for individuals, small businesses and large companies interested in breaking into certain markets and provided social media strategy and management. On the event side, she has contributed to events such as the HBO NY International Film Festival (5 years overall event and vendor management, production and operations), a one week festival attracting approximately 20,000 people; Brooklyn Fashion Weekend (5 seasons public relations, operations, sponsorship), responsible for securing Target and Baccarat as sponsors and landing this new event on the cover of the NY Times Style Section; as well as fundraisers, film screenings, celebrity birthday events, conferences and luncheons, venue and product launches and the like. She knows events and has handled permitting, budgeting, marketing, events from soup to nuts.
Furthermore, Marisa is Executive Director of The King Foundation for Excellence, a foundation created in honor of her late father to provide opportunities for people to advance their education and improve their quality of life. This is accomplished with scholarships and awards, mentoring as well as community outreach. Over the years, Marisa has worked diligently to create platforms for women’s empowerment; in 2003 the Women’s Entrepreneurial Network for female entrepreneurs, in 2015 Women Who Crush It, a movement to highlight women making an extraordinary impact in professional industries & on a social level in various walks of life and in 2019, Marisa launched, Intimate Conversations, a brunch series for woman in the Atlanta area. She has dedicated her life’s work to empowering and inspiring people to get out of their own way, clarify their purpose and create the life that they want.
This charismatic leader has also been named one of Atlanta’s Women of Power & Influence by The Atlantan Magazine in 2014, in 2009 received the President’s Corporate Entrepreneur of the year award from the Professional’s Network Organization and was included in the 2007 40 Under Forty list presented by The Network Journal Magazine.
Marisa is also a proud mother of three, a Mimi to two Grandsons, and although a New Yorker through and through, she has found her second home and now resides in the Atlanta Metro Area.
